Cumberland County issued the following announcement on Sept. 4

The Cumberland County Register of Deeds office donated 800 book bags to Cumberland County Schools Aug. 17. The book bags were packed as part of the Register of Deeds’ annual school supply drive and will be distributed to homeless school children in the county by Cumberland County Schools.

The Register of Deeds office packed 800 book bags for the schools, 200 bags for the American Red Cross, and 100 for the Salvation Army to help with families who have experienced a disaster. The book bags for the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army will be distributed at a later date.

“You can count on the citizens of Cumberland County and the City of Fayetteville any time there is a need,” said Register of Deeds Lee Warren. “It never surprises me that when there is a need, the people of this community we call home step up to the plate and we want to thank the community for their kindness and generosity.”

The Longleaf Pine Association of REALTORS, The Clerk of Courts Office and the Sheriff’s Office were among the hundreds of groups and individuals to make this year’s 1,100 Book Bags possible.
