FAYTTEVILLE, N.C. - The City of Fayetteville is set to expand a city-owned parking lot by 52 spaces located between Winslow and Russel Streets. The parking lot closed on May 1 due to construction and is expected to remain closed until mid-October.
Residents in the vicinity of the construction site are advised to be cautious and attentive to signs, construction workers, and posted speed limits until the construction is completed.
The upgraded parking lot, which is estimated to cost $575,000, is primarily intended for city employees but will also be utilized for events held in downtown Fayetteville. Fayetteville spokesman Loren Bymer expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Adding this many extra parking spots near City Hall will be excellent for employees and will allow closer parking to open up closer to City Hall for residents.”
Currently, the parking facility offers 34 spaces, but once the expansion project is finished, it will boast a total of 86 spaces. The entrance to the parking lot will remain on Franklin St.
This initiative is expected to not only benefit city employees but also enhance parking accessibility for residents attending events in downtown Fayetteville.
