The Fayetteville City Council held a meeting on April 8, 2024, at City Hall to address various issues concerning the city. The session commenced with an invocation by Dr. Lottie J. McKoy and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Mitch Colvin.

During the meeting, Councilmember Deno Hondros expressed gratitude to PWC utility workers in honor of North Carolina Lineworker Appreciation Day. Additionally, Fayetteville State University Chancellor Darrell Allison presented on Empowering Community Growth.

City Manager Douglas J. Hewett informed attendees about the City Manager newsletter and encouraged residents to subscribe through the city's website. The agenda was then approved after Councilmember Lynne Greene's motion, with specific adjustments to certain items.

The public forum provided a platform for six individuals to address the council on various topics, including concerns about Cedar Creek Development and support for the Office of Community Safety.

Councilmember Haire successfully moved to approve the Consent Agenda, which included items such as meeting minutes and budget ordinance amendments. The council also deliberated on the re-appointment of Jay Wyatt to the Airport Commission and additional funding for the Fire Station 4 Relocation Project.

Administrative reports highlighted initiatives such as Crime Deterrent Opportunities with the Fayetteville Metropolitan Housing Authority and the Fiscal Year 2024 Financial Update, both of which were scheduled for further discussion in upcoming work sessions.

The meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m., with the next City Council Regular Meeting set for April 22 at 6:30 p.m. Residents were reminded that meetings are broadcasted live and encouraged to access agendas and minutes online for more information on city affairs.
