Filing Period for City Council Candidacy July 7-21

(Fayetteville, N.C.) – The Cumberland County Board of Elections announced filing period dates for Fayetteville Mayor and City Council elections.

Fayetteville residents interested in running for Mayor or City Council must file for candidacy between Noon, July 7 and Noon, July 21.

To file for candidacy, visit the Cumberland County Board of Elections office located at in E. Newton Smith Center, 227 Fountainhead Lane, to pick up a filing packet. Filing packets are also available on the State Board of Elections website, www.ncsbe.gov. Filing packets and fees must be submitted to the county’s board of elections prior to the deadline. 

The filing fee for Mayor is $348, and City Council is $190. 

The City of Fayetteville Primary Election is Oct. 10, 2023. The Municipal Election is Nov. 7, 2023

The Cumberland County Board of Elections is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 910-678-7733 or visit cumberlandcountync.gov/elections.
