City of Fayetteville Police Department issued the following announcement on March 17.

A pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle on Skibo Road. The vehicle fled from the scene of the accident, was later located and the driver was arrested. The pedestrian died from their injuries. The family of the deceased has been notified.  

On Saturday March 18th at 05:23 AM, officers responded to a pedestrian struck along the 1900 block of Skibo Road. The preliminary investigation revealed Mark Sweatt (White male, 48 years of age) was crossing Skibo Road near Cliffdale Road when he was struck by a silver 2003 Honda Civic. The vehicle fled the area outbound on Skibo Road.   

With the use of CIC cameras and LPR's, officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart at 1550 Skibo Road. The driver, Amber Voight (White female, 39 years of age) was taken into custody without incident. 

Amber Voight was charged with Felony Hit and Run. Voight is being held at the Cumberland County Jail under a 60,000.00 secured bond.
