Homicide Detectives Investigate Afternoon Shooting | CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: (faypd.com)
City of Fayetteville Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 9.
On January 8, 2023, at approximately 1:26 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 3500 block of Nutmeg Place for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived on scene they located a male inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. Julian Wright (black male, 20 years old) was pronounced deceased on scene. His family has been notified.
The preliminary investigation revealed the individuals involved were known to each other and were inside Wright’s residence. An interaction between the individuals led to Wright being shot.
Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have assumed the investigation, and the investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
