FAYETTEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: 2022 Special Olympics Torch Run

Fayetteville Police Department issued the following announcement on May 5.

On Friday, May 20, 2022, the Fayetteville Police Department will host a 5K run/walk through downtown Fayetteville in support of the Special Olympics of North Carolina. All proceeds from the 5K will go directly to supporting Special Olympics athletes in Cumberland County. 

Registration for the run will begin the morning of May 20, 2022 at 6:00am with the run/walk scheduled to begin at 7:00am.

All participants will need to register for the event with a donation fee of $20. With their registration, participants will receive a 2022 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics t-shirt to be worn during the event. 

The registration table will be located in the parking lot of the Fayetteville Police Department at the intersection of Franklin Street and Pittman Street.

The route for the 5K will take participants past various points of interest in the downtown area to include:

North Carolina Veteran's Park

The Airborne and Special Operations Museum

Segra Stadium

Festival Park

Historic Cross Creek

General Lafeyette's Statue

The Parade Grounds of the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry: (North Carolina's Oldest Military Unit)

Historic Hay Street
