CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE: Annual Senior Games changes venue, opens April 20

Adult

City of Fayetteville issued the following announcement on Apr. 14.

The 36th Annual Mid Carolina Senior Games opening ceremony and opening day events will take place at Fayetteville’s Reid Ross and Tokay Athletic Complex on the Reid Ross High School and Middle School main football field.

This is a change from years past, when these events were held at Fort Bragg. Participants should have received an email notice from event organizers noting the venue change.

The opening ceremony for the Games will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20. Participants and spectators should park outside Tokay Athletic Complex. Signs will be placed at Ramsey Street to direct drivers to parking spaces.

The Games will feature more than 230 older adults in the community participating in a variety of events happening at sites throughout Cumberland, Harnett and Sampson Counties. Events offered include individual and team sports, tournament sports and a variety of arts including visual, literary, performing and heritage. The last day of events is Saturday, May 7.

Qualifiers from the local games will be invited to participate in the annual North Carolina Senior Games State Finals held in the fall. State winners may qualify for National Senior Games competition.
