Fayetteville Police Department issued the following announcement on Apr. 13.

On April 12, 2022, Chief Gina V. Hawkins and other members of the Fayetteville Police Department joined Mayor Mitch Colvin and representatives from Fayetteville Technical Community College and citizens of Fayetteville to support the "Shoes for the Soul" event at Ferguson Easley Elementary School. The charity was hosted by two teen aged sisters, Cheyenne and Cali Rai Campos.

After receiving permission from parents of the students, the charity event was able to provide over 150 students with a new pair of shoes and 7 pairs of socks each. The students were able to listen to the Campos sisters talk about the importance of kindness and warm hugs.

The police department was honored to be a part of such a wonderful event.
