Town of Spring Lake issued the following announcement on Nov. 5.
Peak-season soil testing fees will take effect Dec. 1, 2021, through Mar. 31, 2022, pending final approval during the Nov. 19 N.C. Board of Agriculture meeting. Submitting soil samples to the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Agronomic Services lab before Dec. 1 will mean growers and homeowners can avoid the $4 per sample fee.
Soil sample boxes, instructions and informational forms may be picked up at the Cumberland County Cooperative Extension office located at 301 East Mountain Drive, Fayetteville, NC Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Samples delivered to the Cooperative Extension office by 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 19 will be delivered to Raleigh and will avoid the peak season fee. Samples delivered after Nov. 19 are not guaranteed delivery to the Soil Lab before Dec. 1.
Growers are highly encouraged to submit soil sample information forms online for faster and more accurate uploading of their information.
