Town of Hope Mills issued the following announcement on Aug. 12.
During the start of the year our Board met with our state legislators to discuss wishlist items for the Town that required significant funding. Representative John Szoka contacted Mayor Jackie Warner yesterday to inform her that not one but FIVE of the Town’s wishlist items had made it through Appropriations and were headed to the House floor for a vote today and another on Thursday, with final approval from the Senate. If approved, this would total in approximately $4,680,000 of funding to be used for: outdoor park improvements to include a municipal splashpad and inclusive playground, fixing the retaining wall on East Patterson Street and continuing work on the area behind the historical Episcopal Church, creek bed clearing and stormwater projects. Though the current status is not final, it looks favorable. Thank you to our Legislative Delegation - Senators Ben Clark and Kirk deViere and Representatives Billy Richardson, Diane Wheatley, Marvin Lucas and John Szoka.
