COUNTY OF CUMBERLAND: 57% of Cumberland County 18 Years and Older are Vaccinated

Injection

County of Cumberland issued the following announcement on Jul. 19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that 57% of Cumberland County residents 18 years and older are fully vaccinated.  This new statistical data does include Fort Bragg, Indian Health Services and the Veteran’s Affairs.

The new CDC information, which was released July 12, also indicates that 53.6% of residents 12 years and older are fully vaccinated with 50.2% having at least one dose.  Despite that, as of July 11, Cumberland County’s COVID-19 positive test rate is 7% which is predominantly among unvaccinated citizens. The World Health Organization recommends a positive rate at or below 5%.

Since July 1, the Health Department has hosted vaccination clinics every workday at the Health Department located at 1235 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville.  Outreach vaccination clinics efforts continue to give county residents options which may be closer and more convenient for them.  The most recent effort is taking place on Saturdays in July and August at various Cumberland County Library Branches.

“Residents still need to be vigilant about wearing a mask and understanding the importance of doing so in public areas where they could be around asymptomatic individuals,” said Dr. Jennifer Green, Cumberland County Public Health Director.  “Wearing a mask and receiving a vaccination are two necessary steps in protecting your neighbors, children and yourself in the fight against COVID.”

Cumberland County Department of Public Health supports the NCDHHS incentives to citizens to receive a chance to win a million dollars for those older than 18 years of age or $125,000 for those 12 to 17 years of age. More information can be found at https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/summervaxcash.
