CUMBERLAND COUNTY: Election Day Preparation

2020electionday

Cumberland County issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.

Tuesday, Nov. 3, is Election Day, and all 75 voting places in Cumberland County will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Any voters in line by 7:30 p.m. at their assigned polling place will be able to vote.

Registered voters are assigned a voting place within their precinct by the Board of Elections office when they register. Residents should have received a voter card before the election if changes have been made since the last election or if you are a new voter. The voter card will indicate the name and location of the voter’s correct polling site. Residents can also call the Board of Elections office at 910-678-7733 for their voting location.

Absentee Voting

Absentee ballots may be hand delivered by 5 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3 to the Board of Elections office at 227 Fountainhead Lane. Voters who are mailing their ballots must have them postmarked by Nov. 3 and received at the Board of Elections office by Nov. 12.

One-Stop Voting

Saturday, Oct. 31, is the last day to participate in one-stop voting. The sites open at 8 a.m. and will close at 3 p.m. To find polling sites, visit co.cumberland.nc.us/departments/election-group/elections/absentee-onestop/one-stop-voting. If you missed the deadline to register to vote, then you may do a Same Day Registration at One-Stop.

Transfer Voting

If registered voters have moved within the county and failed to change their address by the registration deadline (Oct. 9), they may make that change on Election Day.

Curbside Voting

Voters who are unable to enter the voting place due to age or disability are permitted to vote curbside. Curbside voting takes place in a vehicle in a process overseen by an election official. A curbside voter is entitled to the same level of assistance, privacy, and instruction provided to voters within the polling place.

For more information, go to co.cumberland.nc.us/election-board. The Board of Elections is located at 227 Fountainhead Lane. The office is now open to the public. You may call 910-678-7733 or email boardofelections@co.cumberland.nc.us Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for assistance.
