Cumberland County issued the following announcement on Aug. 27.

The Fayetteville/Cumberland County Continuum of Care (CoC) on Homelessness Board of Directors is accepting applications for 10 at-large seats on the board.

Individuals interested in serving on the board of directors should fill out a candidate application. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31. Applications can be downloaded on the CoC website at fcccoc.org/governing-board. Send completed applications to Ad Hoc Nomination Committee Chairperson Debbie Brown at brodebp@gmail.com.

The CoC Board of Directors collaborates with other local, state and federal entities to address the needs of the homeless community. The CoC was established in response to a mandate from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to facilitate the coordination of the community’s human services agencies and the community-at-large in order to adequately set strategies for addressing the needs of the county’s impoverished populations. For more information, go to fcccoc.org.

Cumberland County Community Development is a partner agency and works with CoC to address the needs of the homeless population and persons at risk of becoming homeless in the county. With funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Community Development administers programs that benefit

low/moderate income families; aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; or meet an urgent need that poses a serious and immediate threat to the health or welfare of the community.
