North Carolina state Rep. John Szoka, R-Cumberland, has been named a 2019 Jobs Champion by the state’s Chamber of Commerce in its annual “How They Vote" report.

“Proud to have been named,” Szoka said in a post on Facebook.

Now in his sixth year of serving the 45th District, Szoka has long prided himself in having a close connection with the people of his community. During his 2018 General Election run, the veteran lawmaker garnered more than 58 percent of the vote.

Each year, the North Carolina Chamber, on behalf of the statewide business community, identifies people whose voting record and other activities speak to their commitment to growth and strengthening the economy.

“Spanning the political spectrum, these Jobs Champions understand the need to strengthen our business climate, improve our education and talent supply system, invest in our infrastructure, and tackle other issues important to our business community,” the NC Chamber posted on its website.
