(Fayetteville, N.C.) – Local law enforcement leaders, including the Cumberland County District Attorney, will participate in a virtual town hall on the criminal justice system Wednesday, May 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Town Hall: Understanding the Process of the Criminal Justice System webinar is an educational event related to the process of the criminal justice system hosted by the Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission.
Vice President of Communities in Schools of North Carolina and Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commissioner Elmore Lowery will moderate the discussion. Lowery is the former Assistant Special Agent in Charge with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, where he focused on police misconduct, internal affairs, and judicial standards. Additionally, Lowery has served as Criminal Special Agent with the FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force. He has a Doctorate in Executive Leadership in Higher Education, Master of Science in Criminal Justice, and two Bachelor of Science degrees in Sociology and Criminal Justice.
The panelists are Cumberland County District Attorney Billy West, Cumberland County Sheriff Ennis Wright, Fayetteville Chief of Police Kemberle Braden, Spring Lake Chief of Police Dysoaneik Spellman and Hope Mills Chief of Police Stephen Dollinger.
The panelist will answer questions sent in by residents, however, no specific cases will be discussed during the event. Those planning to attend must register and submit questions during registration. Questions can also be submitted by emailing Diona Curtis at DionaCurtis@fayettevillenc.gov.
