The nursing school for Fayetteville Technical Community College received nearly a $1 million boost from the Golden LEAF Foundation in April to help fund renovations, according to Up & Coming Weekly.
The organization granted the community college $961,200 to improve health care training programs, according to the publication. The award will go toward renovations and a simulation suite for the technical school's nursing associate degree, certified nursing assistant and licensed practical nursing programs, according to the publication.
"We're so grateful to the Golden Leaf Foundation for their ongoing support and collaboration with communities such as ours throughout North Carolina," Fayetteville Technical Community College President Larry Keen told the publication.
The grant comes amid community college's assistance and donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) to Cape Fear Valley Health System in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"These are heroes on the front lines, and we support them," Kean told the publication.
