Town of Spring Lake Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 1.

Take the time during National Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet Day to make your home safe and properly get rid of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.

“Operation Medicine Drop” is a statewide event which allows for the collection and disposal of people’s unwanted/unused prescription and/or over-the-counter medication.

By having the unused medications disposed of properly, the program helps to ensure that medicine is not being abused and prevents the chemicals from entering the water supply.
