FOIA Request to Cumberland County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Fayetteville Today have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Cumberland County Election Department. The request was made under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., and seeks information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The specifics of the request include the first, middle, and last names of each candidate, the office they are running for, their jurisdiction, and party affiliation. We have also requested contact information for each candidate which includes their address, phone number, and email address.
Access to public records is crucial for us at Fayetteville Today as it enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await a response from the Cumberland County Election Department and will continue to keep our readers informed about this matter.
