The City of Fayetteville, North Carolina, submitted its Fiscal Year 2023 audit to the Local Government Commission (LGC) on Friday, May 10. This significant achievement underlines the City's ongoing commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency.

"Our commitment to fiscal accountability is exemplified by our ability to overcome challenges to complete and file the annual financial audit," said City Manager Doug Hewett. "With the challenges of implementing a new enterprise software system and staffing issues behind us, we are able to ensure timeliness, accuracy and thoroughness of our financial reporting."

On May 13, external auditors presented the FY23 audit report to the Audit Committee at City Hall. This was followed by a presentation to the City Council during their Regular Council meeting held at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. These presentations were open to the public and provided detailed information about the financial health and operations of the City.

Despite initial delays caused by implementing the Oracle System and conducting a detailed review required for transitioning from the legacy system, the City has maintained its robust financial standing. "This submission reaffirms our city’s financial strength, and I appreciate everyone’s dedication to our residents and our City," added Hewett.

The City of Fayetteville continues to uphold high standards of financial integrity and transparency. Historical audits, along with the FY23 audit once it is publicly released following the council meeting, will be available on the City's official website.

City officials remain committed to maintaining open lines of communication with residents and stakeholders regarding the City’s financial management. "We appreciate the understanding and trust of our community as we continuously aim to improve our processes and meet our responsibilities," said Hewett.

For further details or inquiries, residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend upcoming Regular Council meetings or visit the City’s website.
