Cumberland County’s 57 coaches earned an average salary of $34,363 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 17th lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at North Carolina post-secondary schools during 2022.

Cumberland County is home to three post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Methodist University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $41,470.

Male coaches of men's teams received $41,856 on average in Cumberland County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $33,882.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
