FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The City of Fayetteville has been recognized for its outstanding financial reporting practices, as it recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The prestigious award was granted to the City for its annual comprehensive financial report for Fiscal Year 2022, which concluded on June 30, 2022.
"The Finance Department team members worked hard to achieve this goal for the City," said Jody Picarella, Chief Financial Officer. "It is something we can all be proud of."
The GFOA evaluates financial reports based on high program standards, including a "spirit of full disclosure." The award is given to governments that produce easily readable and well-organized comprehensive annual financial reports that adhere to generally accepted accounting principles and legal requirements.
In addition to recognizing excellence in financial reporting, the GFOA provides its members with valuable information on various financial practices such as accounting, auditing, budgeting, and investment management.
