The Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the Kiwanis Playground, located at the Kiwanis Recreation Center on Devers Street, will be temporarily closed for improvements starting on Monday, January 29, 2024. The current playground equipment will be replaced with new and improved equipment, and a stone base and rubber fill will be added to create a more secure and comfortable play surface.
"The current playground equipment will be removed to install new and improved equipment at the Kiwanis Playground," said the spokesperson for the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Department.
The project is expected to take approximately one month to complete, during which time the Kiwanis Playground area will remain closed to the public. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and allow for the smooth installation of the new equipment.
"We understand that this may cause inconvenience to the residents, but the temporary closure is essential to ensure the successful completion of the project," explained the spokesperson.
During the closure, residents are encouraged to visit the FCPR.us website to locate another park in the area that has a playground. Additionally, the website provides information about the various programs and services offered by the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Department.
"We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate the public's understanding and cooperation during this temporary closure," said the spokesperson.
Once the improvements are completed, the Kiwanis Playground will reopen to the public, offering a revitalized and enhanced play area for children in the community. The new equipment and upgraded play surface will provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for children and their families.
