(Fayetteville, N.C.) — The Fayetteville-Cumberland Human Relations Commission invites members of the community to nominate dedicated residents and organizations who are committed to the well-being and the promotion of positive human relations in the City of Fayetteville and Cumberland County. Nominations must be submitted by Jan. 17, 2024.
There are nine awards based on diverse categories. These categories include youth, individual, lifetime achievement, humanitarian, industry or business, educator, military, religious leader and organization. Nomination forms can be found at FayettevilleNC.gov/HumanRelations.
“The Human Relations Commission has been raising funds and providing scholarships to local high school students since the late 90’s,” said Yamile Nazar, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Fayetteville and Cumberland residents to invest in our youth who will soon represent leaders in our community.”
Award winners will be celebrated at the Annual Community Recognition Awards Luncheon on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden, located at 536 N. Eastern Blvd. in Fayetteville. Tickets will go on sale Dec. 4 for $35 and can be purchased at the Human Relations Office located at 225 Ray Ave, Suite 100 in Fayetteville from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets must be purchased by Jan. 29.
The funds raised from the Community Awards will support the Human Relations Scholarships for high school seniors who aspire to attend higher education.
