(Fayetteville, N.C.) – Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) add inaugural express route, X1, to service west Fayetteville starting Nov. 13.

X1 is a 30-minute route operating Monday through Friday 6-10:30 a.m. and 2:30-7 p.m. The two-stop route runs from Cross Creek Mall to Two Bale Lane providing connectivity from the Hoke Loop Road area into FAST’s existing service area.

“Adding the new express route, ‘X1,’ demonstrates that FAST continues to pursue new ways to serve our visitors and residents with a goal to become the choice of transportation for Fayetteville,” said Transit Director Tyffany Neal. “I know this will be a great addition to the services we already provide to Fayetteville residents.”

Residents will be able to utilize flag stops along Hoke Loop Road. The route’s main destinations, Cross Creek Mall and Two Bale Lane, near Walmart on south Raeford Road, serve as transfers to more than nine FAST routes. This allows riders to connect with routes 7 and 17 at Two Bale Lane and routes 10, 11,14 and 15 at the mall.

Utilizing X1 offers many advantages including flexible schedules, reduced wear on your vehicle, the opportunity to get work done during your commute and enjoying a relaxing mode of transportation while reducing emissions. The first week of service is free, then fares for X1 follow FAST’s current fee.

Fare passes for X1 are available for purchase at participating Carlie C’s locations and the FAST Transit center located at 505 Franklin Street.

The City is hosting a route addition ceremony to celebrate FAST’s first express route on Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. at Fire Station 15, 8434 Cliffdale Rd.
