Leah Adams awarded Civics Scholarship

Mint Hill, N.C. – The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Greyfriars Classical Academy alumna Leah Adams.

FFROA, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is committed to educating the next generation of Americans about our nation’s founding principles and how they should continue to serve as the foundation for our future.

Adams attends Gordon College, where she intends to graduate in 2025 with her Master of Arts in Leadership: Classical Schools degree.

Adams will be teaching an Aesthetics course to sixth graders this year, and she said the Foundation's courses will aid her in that endeavor.

"As a Christian educator," she said, "this is now a vital part of my vocation, exhorting my students to live out our faith in how we conduct our lives as the social and political creatures of a nation under a sovereign God."

The Foundation’s Executive Director Christine Altenberger shared her excitement about the scholarship program.

“For the future of the country,” Altenberger said, “each generation must learn the true history and founding principles of the United States and why they are important and worthy of respect. As Ronald Reagan said, ‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children, our children’s children what it was once like to live in the United States where men were free.’”

“These students are better equipped to be our nation’s next generation of leaders now that they’ve been exposed to the values that founded this country centuries ago.”

To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, students must have completed the “Constitution 101” and “Introduction to the Constitution” FREE online courses through Hillsdale College. It takes approximately 8 hours to complete.
