(Fayetteville, N.C.) – Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation (FCPR) was awarded $3000 from the Cumberland Community Foundation (CCF) to help fund summer nature experiences for children 5-13 years old.
All of the programs are full due to overwhelming demand, which results in more than 100 children being exposed to different outdoor activities and learning more about the natural world. Programs include Clark Park Outdoor Adventure Week, Clark Park Survival Week, Lake Rim Park Summer Adventures Week, Lake Rim Park Tiny Trailblazers, Clark Park Growing Up Wild Days and Mazarick Park Tiny Trailblazers. The programs operate June to August.
The grant comes from the CCF’s Summertime Kids Grant Program, where they assist organizations providing life-changing summer experiences. The funds will be used for activity supplies, snacks and field trips.
Residents can visit Clark Park Nature Center six days per week: Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to learn more about nature or access the Cape Fear River Trail. Clark Park is located at 631 Sherman Drive.
Visit the Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation Nature and Outdoor Programming Facebook page to stay up to date on nature and outdoor events, or go to www.FCPR.us for more information on all FCPR programming and services.
