A passenger was shot to death Tuesday night while riding in a car that was shot at multiple times and eventually run off the road in Fayetteville.

Shaquille Bratcher was killed after gunfire hit the car multiple times, causing it to crash into an embankment off Raeford Road at approximately 11 p.m.

"Shots rang out, bullets hit a car,” the victim’s mother, Yashica Bratcher, said in a WRAL report.  "The driver got hit. My son git hit. Also, my son did not survive."

Bratcher's mother doesn't think this was a case of road rage. And, coincidentally, this is the third son they have lost within the past year.

“I just think it was done intentionally,” she said. “For it to be that time of night, in the dark, I think the driver was targeted."

The death has been hard on his dad, Michael Graham.

”My son, he was a good guy,” Graham said in the report. “He liked to have fun and make people laugh — about like me. He had an outgoing personality. He loved being with his kids."

Investigators will look at video from cameras that line Raeford Road in hopes of getting a better idea of what happened and who might have been involved.

The Charger struck another car during the incident, but the driver of that car was uninjured.

The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating and welcomes tips from the community. Anyone with any information can call Detective R. Vernon 910-729-2525 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
