A weekend party in Pinebluff turned deadly for a Fort Bragg soldier after a shooter killed him and put four others in the hospital.

Keith Wright, Jr., a 29-year-old father of four, was the victim who died. His mother, Holly Smith, was also shot, but she is expected to recover after she was airlifted to UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

"It really doesn't feel real. It's like I'm dreaming. I think we're all going through those emotions,” Wright’s sister, Latishanae Smith, told ABC 11 News.

Earlier this week, police announced they had arrested a suspect, Malik Anthony Williams, 25, of Greensboro. He is in jail awaiting his arraignment without bond, a WXII NBC 12 report said.

The arrest of the suspect offers some consolation to Wright’s family, though they are still coping with the loss and their mother’s injury.

"He is just a family man,” Wright’s brother, Keyon Smith, told ABC 11 News. “He always had his family with him. He loves everybody, and I've never known him to have a serious altercation with anybody."

Police said they had been to the location of the shooting for other calls in the past, but Wright’s siblings said they knew nothing about what could have precipitated the violence.

Wright has been all over the world with the military, and most recently was serving with the 1st Special Forces Command at Fort Bragg.

Lakeisha Wright, another sister, said the family wants to see the shooter receive appropriate legal punishment. "We want justice,” she told ABC 11 News. “If anyone knows anything, we just want them to come forward and help us get it.”

Although police have apprehended a suspect, they are still seeking information to piece together what happened the day of the shooting. Witnesses can call the Moore County Sheriff's Office at 910-947-2931 or provide information through the Anonymous Crime Tip Line at 910-947-4444.
