CUMBERLAND COUNTY SCHOOLS: Class of 2022 Awarded Millions of Dollars in Scholarships

Cumberland County Schools issued the following announcement on July 13.

Cumberland County Schools (CCS) is proud to announce that the Class of 2022 has earned $34,216,851 in scholarships from numerous colleges and universities across the nation. 

This marks an increase of $8,242,084.03 over the 2021 total and the first increase in yearly scholarship totals since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

As of July 5, the total amounts of scholarship dollars earned in the following categories are:

  • Academic Scholarships - $28,536,394
  • Athletic Scholarships - $1,554,319
  • Military Scholarships - $3,110,094
  • Other Scholarships (community, civic, etc.) - $ 1,016,044
CCS’ Class of 2022 will be using their scholarship dollars to support their education at the following colleges and universities: West Point Military Academy, University of South Carolina, Princeton University, Stetson University, Fayetteville State University, Barton College, UNC-Greensboro, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Emerson College, Hampton University, Georgetown University, Duke University, Full Sail University, UNC-Wilmington, Grambling State University, Montreat College, Norfolk State University, Saint Augustine University, N.C. Wesleyan University, UNC-Charlotte, Methodist University, Virginia Polytechnic and State University, N.C. Central University, Campbell University, Shaw University, Western Carolina University, UNC-Pembroke, Guilford College, and many more.
