If you’ve ever watched the numbers on the gas pump spin out of control as you fill your tank and thought what a joy it would be to have some help paying that total, a Fayetteville car dealership is coming to the rescue.

Cadillac of Fayetteville is sending employees out on Fridays to surprise people at the pump with gas cards.

"Our hope is to bring happiness to people in our community as well as saving them a few dollars,” the dealership’s executive general manager, Bill Shotwell, told WRAL. “This event means a lot to our team, because we want to support our community.”

Since part of the goal is to provide a pleasant surprise, the dealership isn’t saying exactly when or where employees will show up with the cards, but it will happen during daytime hours and most of the stations targeted, at least initially, will be close to the dealership off Skibo Road.

As of Friday, gas prices in Fayetteville were hovering around $3.60 per gallon, WRAL reported.

No information about how long the promotion would last, or the number of cards handed out weekly, was provided.
