City of Fayetteville issued the following announcement on Jan. 1.
The Fayetteville City Council adopted new designs for the City flag and seal during the final Regular Meeting of 2021. The new designs align with the Can Do Carolina regional brand, launched in December 2020. The Fayetteville Cumberland Collaborative Branding Committee (FCCBC), comprised of the City of Fayetteville, Cumberland County, Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC), the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County, the Convention & Visitors Bureau, Cool Spring Downtown District and the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, unveiled the strategic regional brand to increase awareness and attract prospective residents and businesses alike.
The FCCBC recognized that their promotional materials and messaging often overlapped and were disconnected from one another. After data research, public forums, and internal collaboration, they created the Can Do Carolina brand for the region and refreshed each of their own organization’s branding.
The final designs are products of a partnership between the City of Fayetteville Corporate Communications Department and North Star Place Branding + Marketing. These images are based on creative feedback and direction from Council Members. The new flag will appear inside and outside city facilities. The city seal is the official insignia of the Council and will primarily be used for official Council-related documents, ceremonies and other functions.
Earlier this year, the City updated logos and visual identity components for departments to reflect the new brand initiative. The flag and seal are the latest enhancements in a phased approach following new City Hall signage and new Fayetteville Area System of Transit buses among others. The new look of the City and branding partners provide a collective vision for driving Fayetteville’s identity into the future.
