City of Fayetteville issued the following announcement on Nov. 15.
Residents will soon be able to submit an application to serve the remainder of the term for the vacant Fayetteville City Council District 3 position. On Monday, November 15th at 9:30 a.m., residents will be able to submit their application at www.FayettevilleNC.gov/District3. The deadline to complete and submit an application is 11:59 p.m., November 26. Eligible applicants must live in District 3, be a Fayetteville resident and a qualified voter of the city. City Council eligibility requirements and term lengths are in the Municipal Code. Neighborhoods within District 3 are listed online.
“Fayetteville City Council Members and myself will move swiftly to fill the seat left vacant following Tisha Waddell’s resignation,” Mayor Mitch Colvin said. “We thank her for her service. The Council will move forward and seek her replacement according to City Policy.”
Fayetteville City Council Policy 115.11 and all City Council Policies are available online. A City Council Special Meeting is scheduled for December 6th. At the meeting, Council Members will appoint an applicant to serve as the new District 3 representative. After City Council has voted on filling the vacancy, the applicant will take their Oath of Office during the following Regular Council meeting.
