County of Hoke issued the following announcement on Jul. 12.
There has been misinformation publicized in regard to a food voucher program. The following information needs to be corrected:
The program is funded through the CARES program and is being administered through Senior Services, not Social Services. Please be aware that this funding is for Home Bound Seniors who are 60 years of age living in Hoke County.
Participants must meet the following criteria:
- Not currently on a nutrition program through Senior Services or other meal-providing agencies.
- Have health problems that prevent them from being able to prepare a meal for themselves or have someone who can prepare a meal for them.
- Not be able to drive.
We are currently taking intake forms for the program. Funding is limited and eligibility will be based on the most need and as funding permits. Vouchers will be provided to a local supplier at a later date.
