Rep. John Szoka (R-Cumberland) encouraged public participation in an upcoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) meeting in August about the Cape Fear River Basin.
The community information session covering PFAS contamination at the Chemours Fayetteville Works Facility in the Cape Fear River Basin is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 6 p.m., Szoka said in a July 22 Facebook post about the upcoming meeting.
Residents who are interested in participating can connect to the meeting by WebEx or by phoning into a conference call, the DEQ said in a press release on July 22.
Subjects to be discussed include the February 2019 Consent Order, as well as the results from drinking water samples, according to the DEQ release. There will also be updates from the divisions of Waste Management, Air Quality and Water Resources.
Those who wish to ask questions or comment will be permitted to do so after the presentations are completed but must submit a form to pre-register ahead of the event, according to the release. A link to the form and submission information can be found in the DEQ release.
