An angel investment network is expanding its reach to include Fayetteville, the local chamber of commerce said in June.

Fayetteville becomes the 14th community part of VentureSouth's angel investment network — which provides investments for companies in the early startup stages worth between $250,000 to $1 million, the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce said on June 10

“Being able to wave the VentureSouth banner in Fayetteville is a significant step towards putting our community on the map as a place to start and grow companies," Marty Clayton, who will serve as the VentureSouth Fayetteville director, said in the chamber's news release. "VentureSouth brings a successful and proven process to our local investors and will undoubtedly lead to the growth of our angel investment and entrepreneurship ecosystem."

The angel-investment firm has more than 300 members, with groups supporting regions in and around Charlotte, Asheville, Wilmington and locations in South Carolina, among other markets, the chamber's news release said. VentureSouth has provided more than $50 million worth of investments through its members.

“Being able to wave the VentureSouth banner in Fayetteville is a significant step towards putting our community on the map as a place to start and grow companies," Cayton said in the news release. "Now, more than ever, we need fresh ideas from entrepreneurs."
