U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) has announced the passage of the Fiscal Year 2026 funding bill for the Department of Defense in the U.S. House of Representatives, which received bipartisan support. Hudson emphasized his commitment to supporting troops, their families, and veterans.
“This bill is a major step toward restoring President Trump’s Peace through Strength agenda and puts America’s safety and security first,” said Rep. Hudson. “It delivers a hard-earned pay raise for our troops, strengthens our border, and provides cutting-edge technology to ensure our military remains the most lethal and capable force in the world.”
The FY26 Department of Defense Budget includes all amendments proposed by Rep. Hudson, aimed at equipping U.S. troops with modern tools and technologies. Key allocations include $8 million for Radios-as-a-Service initiatives, over $10 million for enhancing SOCOM and border security, $11.9 million for advancing drone technology, and several other investments in technology and infrastructure at Fort Bragg.
Additionally, the FY26 Military Construction-Veterans Affairs (MILCON-VA) bill passed in June provides significant funding for veteran programs nationwide. For Fort Bragg specifically, it includes $44.7 million to construct training facilities at Forward Operating Base Freedom and $5.3 million for a SOF Joint Intelligence Center.
The legislation also supports various initiatives related to veteran health care, benefits, homelessness prevention programs, mental health programs, and maintaining Second Amendment rights.
Hudson’s efforts reflect broader support for military construction projects that enhance national security and infrastructure necessary for advanced weapons systems while maintaining prohibitions on certain VA actions without judicial consent.
