FOIA Request to Hoke County Election Department Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Fayetteville Today have formally requested records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1 from the Hoke County Election Department. The request specifically pertains to the pre-election test reports for voting machines used in the county’s elections.

We have asked for these records in an electronic format, preferably PDF, and with specific fields included in the report. These fields include the date of the test, machine manufacture details, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed the test.

Our role as a media organization is not just about reporting news but also about holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

We believe that as a media organization involved in gathering and disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver. We await a response from the Hoke County Election Department regarding this request.
