County of Cumberland issued the following announcement on Dec. 9. 

All fees associated with the 2nd Annual “Light Up the Night” Stedman Fire Department Christmas Parade are being waived. The parade is being held Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in downtown Stedman.

Applications can be picked up at the station located at 5318 Front St. in Stedman or on the Stedman Volunteer Fire Department’s website at www.stedmanfire.com.

For all participants, line up starts at 5 p.m. Candy will only be passed out by participants in the parade by walking members with their group. No one may throw candy from their moving vehicles, trailers or floats.

The route is made up of one square mile. The blocks of Clinton Road and Front Street will be closed between Carol Street and Hillsboro Street. Carol Street will be closed from Clinton Road to Front Street. Hillsboro Street will be closed from Clinton Road to Front Street.

Multiple participants from Cumberland County will be in attendance to include the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Cumberland County Emergency Services and Sheriff’s Office, Cape Fear Valley EMS and numerous Cumberland County Fire Departments. 

Stedman’s Perry Howell and Don Chase from WKML will be the masters of ceremonies for the parade. Refreshments will be available for sale near the First Citizens Bank.
