City of Fayetteville issued the following announcement on Oct. 24.

Today, we broke ground on the world-class tennis center. Council members, City staff and community members all gathered to celebrate this exciting moment for Fayetteville!

The 6,594-square-foot center will feature 15 tennis courts, one of which will be used as a championship competition court, four pickleball courts, locker rooms, a lounge, a learning area and a pro shop.

“City staff have worked tirelessly in recent years to make our community a desirable place to live, work and play with the addition of a wide variety of options for recreation and enjoyment,” said City Manager Doug Hewett. “Bringing a world-class facility like this one to Fayetteville will attract professionals and enthusiasts from across the region to our City. The addition of top-notch amenities like this tennis center is an investment we can all be proud of.”
